The Keith House, for example is a mansion that dates back to the 18th century that has remained virtually unchanged since its construction in the 18th century. The town's success was based upon industries like brewing, brickmaking, and iron-smelting. A lot of these have been shut down, but the town retains an active manufacturing sector. Among these is the Horsham branch of the pharmaceutical company Novartis, which was formerly part of Ciba-Geigy. The Churchill Theatre which was opened by HRH the Prince of Wales in 1977, seats 785 people and has a wide range of productions. In addition the Bromley Little Theatre has been performing local talent since 1938.
The Borough also has 14 libraries, among which is the central library, located in the town center. Greenwich Leisure Limited operates it under the trademark "Better" on behalf of the Borough Council.
